Monday night Mark came home from work and announced, "Guess what I got today?" Mind having been focused all day on our tax refund, I cheerfully suggested the external dvd player for his computer that he's been wanting, all proud of myself that I'd guessed it on the first try. But, no. It was something better still: He gotten his first three court-appointed criminal cases assigned to him that day. His firm's up and running! He figures he'll only make a couple hundred dollars from the cases as they're all minor things that will probably plead out and not require a trial. But still. He's got his foot in the door now. I'm soooo proud of him.

Not much else to report. I got my second draft of the first chapter of the benchbook back from my boss yesterday and he told me he was very, very pleased with my work. Yay! I think I can do this. And I went to lunch with my sis yesterday. She's down in the dumps and things are very hard with her husband still. But... and it's a big but... things are slowly improving. Even a tiny bit of improvement is a huge thing, so I was happy to hear that. Maybe they'll get through this afterall. He still needs medication desperately for his depression, and still refuses to admit that he even has a problem, much less agree to get medical help for it, but tiny steps forward soon make a mile.

Happy Wednesday! :D
