Hell has frozen over!
Oh my goodness WTF I'm updating!!!!!! How'd that happen??? I've decided to attempt to start keeping my lj again. Maybe if I update in the morning instead of at night I can actually find the time? I'm hoping anyway! However, I probably will not update on the weekends as the BV -- almost ten weeks old now! -- tends to keep me from doing much of anything when he's around. Anyway, baloons and confetti to celebrate the re-christening of my lj! :)

The BV has made several new leaps forward this week. First of all, he's figured out that if he lifts his feet up and kicks them while laying on his play mat, he can kick the hanging toys above him. He's known since he was about two weeks old that he could hit the toys with his hands, but this is the first time he seems to have realized that those things on the end of his legs actually belong to him and are useful! M. and I have been cheering him on! He also has slept through the night TWICE this week! Hallelujah!!!!!! I've been warned that this won't last and that he will start waking up again for quite a while before he starts doing it regularly. Nonetheless, the break from 2 am feedings has been WONDERFUL!!!!

M. does his second practice multistate exam (the multiple choice test that is the second part of the Michigan Bar Exam) today, with Saturday and Sunday 9-5 spent reviewing the answers. He got 108 out of 200 on the last one. I tried to explain to him that that is actually a pretty good score, but he didn't believe me. Hopefully he'll do better on this one, for both of our sanities' sakes! Only a couple more week until the bar exam -- and we're both counting down the days. Once that's over much of the stress will be off M., at least until results are due to be released, at the end of October, and he will be able to take the BV more and help more with the middle of the night feedings. I am soooo looking forward to that!!!!

On the job front, I have three jobs that I am going to apply for, since my current job (which I love) ends in December. One is with the admissions office at the law school that M. graduated from; one is with a big law firm in Lansing that does insurance defense work (Ick! Boring! But they really like people with experience at the Court, so I have a good shot at getting the job); and one at a small firm in Okemos (a few miles east of Lansing) that does criminal law, family law, wills and estates, and general law. The last job sounds the best of the three, but I don't know if they'll even consider me given I've waited kind of long to apply (hard to find time to prepare the cover letter, etc., with the BV around), and given I don't have any actual courtroom experience. Oh well, we shall wait and see.

Last night I had a ball talking with hawkeyesmartini! I beta'd a cute little story for her and we made plans to meet up on September 20th in Chicago to meet Allie! GRIN!!!! So this means I will get to see her TWICE this summer -- Hell really has frozen over!!!!! Guess all that squishing of Indiana has actually worked! *evil smirk* Now just have to decide whether to take the BV with, or leave him home.... Takenhawkeye will also be there, so I will finally get to meet her, as well. Should prove to be an interesting trip, although tiring.

I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of two Lep dvds that I won off ebay. The first is about the making of Hysteria. I keep hearing references to it, and haven't actually seen it myself, so I decided it was time to fork over the dough for a copy. The second is a live concert from 1983. I am absolutely ecstatic about that one -- or will be if it turns out to be as good quality as it appears on the ebay posting! I have never seen the lads in concert from that era, other than just what they have out there in videos, so I am really excited to get my hands on this DVD! Steve-pops and Phil-pops and Sav-pops galore -- who could ask for anything more???? *Very Evil Grin*

M. and I got talking last night about our ten all-time favorite songs, so I thought I'd post mine here and tag all of those on my friends list to do the same -- sort of my very own meme. :) So, in no particular order:

1. Swith 625 - Def Leppard
2. Drowning Man - U2
3. New Year's Day - U2
4. Unforgettable Fire - U2
5. Bad - U2
6. Long, Long Way to Go - Def Leppard
7. My Immortal - Evanescence
8. Spirit of '76 - The Alarm
9. This is the Day - The Alarm
10. Too Late for Love - Def Leppard

Alright, so I have a few favorite bands who I listen to more than anybody else....that much is apparent. I also would add to that list several songs of REO Speedwagon, but I can't remember any of their names! Also, if I could remember the name, I'd add Ty's (the Shot Glass!) most recent composition that he sent me, since it ran around in m'head for days after I watched the vid. That kid's got talent! :)

Righty-o, off to work now. Have a good day all! NV

Wow, you used your lj! I'd be thrilled if you kept up posting. Also, if you get bored, you might want to check out the FAQ - there's a lot of useful info in there. If you want to use the html for usernames and such. ^_^
