Yesterday we had a staff meeting at work. If they had been speaking Swahili it might have made more sense to me. Who knew that a bunch of administrative assistants could manage to speak in code so thick that someone with a Master's degree and and a law degree would be left scratching their head. I ought to have stayed at my desk. I would've gotten just as much out of the meeting. *sigh*

I like my new job, I really do. But it's really hard to figure out if I'm doing things correctly. The deadlines for things are so far away that I complete a project and just hold on to it because it's not due for another two or three weeks, or months, yet. So I've had no feedback at all so far. Scary! By the time the deadlines come up, I'll have very little time to correct things, but my boss insists he doesn't want to see things much ahead of time. *nervous* Hopefully I'm doing okay.

So I just won a Virgin Prunes video off e-bay for $0.99. The shipping on it is ten times the purchase price. *giggle/grumble* I didn't even know this existed until I stumbled across it on e-bay the other day, so I've no idea of the quality. Should make for interesting viewing at the very least. I think it's called Sons Find Devils. Anyone know anything about it?

I was so very productive last night after work. I picked Devon up at daycare and got him home, did the dishes, made bottles up, folded laundry, fed Devon, made supper, gave Devon a bath, and still found time to play with my girls. I wish I could be that productive and efficient every day.

"Sons Find Devils" is the only remotely official release ever done of the Virgin Prunes live performance. It's amazing - has footage from about 3 shows, then the exhibit that they did at the Douglas Hyde Gallery.

And what must we always remember about magic? Watch it, and then tell me. It's my favourite part of the video :D

There's also a guest appearance by Bernie and Attricia, and two bottles of beer.

It has stuff from the Douglas Hyde Gallery, too? *dies* I can't wait to see it!!!!!! I've never actually seen any of their stuff live, if you can believe it. By the time I made it to anywhere they might actually play, they'd lost Guggi and Dik and were on their way to completely disbanding. And I've never seen any video footage of their live performance either. So this should be so much fun! *dances and bounces in excitement*

It's really cool, although very disturbing [as it's meant to be]. Brilliant, though. And having spent a fair whack of time in the DH, it's so hard to think of it.

Have you seen Gavin/the VPs play then? Ooh, where?

It's really... heh. I think the world is divided into two sets of people. Those who see the VP stuff and go "....erm?" and those who go "FUCK YEAH!". I'm decidedly in the second camp :D

I'm a little worried about the "disturbing" aspect of it, but I really do like them a lot, so it shouldn't be an issue. Particularly as I know that was the whole point of it.

Alas, no, I've never seen Gavin/the VPs play. I'd heard of them, of course, from way back around 1980 or 1981, through their connection with U2, but the first time I found myself in a city where they might actually consider doing a show (Dublin), there were no shows to be had and anyway Guggi and Dik had left. Despite the fairly lengthy amount of time I spent in Dublin, nearly everyweekend between 1991-1994 (I was studying in Galway), I never learned of Gavin doing any shows while I was there. He may have done, but I didn't hear about them.

AAAAAAAHHH I wanna see!!!

*pets* You'll find your way in the job, hon. I know it's all confusing at first, but you'll make it. Is your boss being supportive?

You're in luck. I've a dvd burner that will copy from vhs to dvd. So I can copy it for you once I get it.

Thanks, hon. It's just very stressful. He's supportive, but I'm led to wonder if he has too much confidence in my abilities, y'know? His attitude is you're talented, you can do this. But he's not actually seen me do it, so...

EEEEE! Thank you.

I'm sure he's right and just trying to show you. ;)
